The annual “Suzanne Rogers Presents” fundraiser has become one of the best Canadian events of the year. Each year, philanthropist and fashion lover Suzanne Rogers invites an international designer to present a collection in Toronto. Funds from the event go to different children’s charities. This year’s recipients were Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Centre and Boost Children Abuse Prevention and Intervention.
It was just announced that Dior will showcase their Cruise 2015 collection in Brooklyn. The chosen location is the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the same location that Alexander Wang showcased his Fall 2015 collection.
One of the most anticipated runway shows during World Mastercard Fashion Week is Pink Tartan, designed by Kimberly Newport-Mimran. This season Pink Tartan presented a Canadian inspired collection with a 1960′s twist. Kimberley was inspired by the 1966 Vogue editorial “The Great Fur Caravan” photographed by Richard Avedon for Vogue featuring 60’s model icon Veruschka.
Designed by Nikki Wirthensohn, Narces is a Toronto-based womenswear line that specializes in after-five and evening wear. The Fall Winter 2014 collection was a very beautiful take on the elegance of 1950’s style. Flared cocktail dresses of rich lace, satin, and velvet. Bold colours of red, royal blue, black, and white were striking on the designs.
The Stephan Caras showcased his Fall 2014 collection to a full house that people sitting on the isle steps, eagerly awaiting what was to be one of these best shows of the week. His show did not disappoint. Stunning, perfectly executed, and oh-so-sexy, Stephan Caras’ Fall Winter 2014 collection blew everyone away.
The best runway shows take you on a journey. Evan Clayton’s Fall 2014 runway show did exactly that. The collection was named JENOVA, inspired by the artwork of Yoshitaka Amano and the central plot to the iconic video game “Final Fantasy VII.”
