Shoe guru Christian Louboutin is launching a line of nail polishes. In 1992, Louboutin didn’t think his shoes were as colourful as the original sketch. He grabbed a bottle of nail polish from his assistance’s desk and painted the soles red. Thus, the famous red soles of Louboutin’s heels were born.
Now, Louboutin has created his own nail polish in strikingly tall spiky bottles. Retailing for $50 each, the red nail enamel Rouge Louboutin will go on sale today at Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship in New York and 15 Louboutin boutiques in the U.S.
“If I do beauty, I have to do it my way,” the designer told WWD
Saks 5th Avenue will devote five window display to the new polish, each filled with a display of an imaginary city, called Loubiville, whose architectural shapes give hints of products to come.
